So, in this short post, I’m going to show you how to create a sitemap for your single page or responsive website. You can create your sitemap using any free online services such as Sitemap Generator or you can simply create your sitemap from scratch using notepad or any HTML editors such as Dreamweaver or so.

It all comes down to the basic if you really understand how a website works. And yes, it’s all about the navigation which will transit into your final sitemap. The navigation within most single page or responsive websites are constructed using anchor tag # or hash tag. They’re used to point to the individual segment of the website by putting the anchor tag after the same URL such as:

http://www.sitemap.com/#aboutus – link to the About Us segment.

http://www.sitemap.com/#faq – link to the FAQ segment.

Hence, the sitemap can be constructed in the following manner:

 <urlset xmlns="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9">
  <url>
   <loc>http://www.sitemap.com/#home</loc>
  </url>
  <url>
 <loc>http://www.sitemap.com/#aboutus</loc>
 </url>
  <url>
 <loc>http://www.sitemap.com/#product?id=1</loc>
 </url>
  <url>
 <loc>http://www.sitemap.com/#faq</loc>
 </url>
 </urlset>
