WooCommerce is popular and is a good choice if you don’t want to get your hand dirty when comes to implementing a shopfront on your WordPress. And it’s totally free.
Here, I show you how to insert a short description on your WordPress home page using WooCommerce plugin.
FTP to your WordPress hosting server and locate the following file: content-product.php under the folder: wp-content -> plugins -> woocommerce -> templates.
Backup your files is always a good practice before making any changes. Now, open the php file and locate the following codes: <?php the_title(); ?> along line 56. These codes will display all the product titles on your WordPress home page. I have inserted a custom CSS style: style=”font-weight: bold;” to the h3 tag to make the title bold. This is especially useful to customize the appearance without touching on the CSS file.
Right after the next line, you can insert the following codes: <?php the_excerpt(); ?> to display your short description. Do note that you can hide the short description (refer to the image above) by commenting the codes as follow: <?php //the_excerpt(); ?>.
